Replica Chopard VS Fake Rolex

These two brands constitute 50% of the 4 most recognized and valuable Swiss watch brands on this planet. Let’s see which best suits your lifestyle and unique needs. Will it be Rolex or Chopard?

Comparison of Chopard VS Rolex

We are often asked “Which is better, Replica Chopard watches or Replica Rolex watches?” and without understanding the context of the question the answer is not so straight forward. This is why this article was created. Click on any of the questions below to jump to the answer section.“What’s better?”can mean any of the following:

Which has better precision?
Which brand is more prestigious?
Which brand is more famous?
Which one has better craftsmanship?
Which has better durability?
Which makes the best divers watches?
Which holds its value best?
Which has better pricing & retail value?

That said, let’s address each of these questions to give you a better picture of how you can compare Rolex VS Chopard watches to see which is the best option for you and your unique needs. Shall we?

In the watchmaking industry, this is called ‘chronometry’ which is defined as the science of accurate time measurement. The Swiss Institute of Chronometry (known by its original French name ‘Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres’) or COSC for short is the industry standard for testing movements to ensure high precision.

Once they pass a series of tests, the mechanical movement (also known as a caliber) is then awarded the designation of ‘Chronometer’ and receives a COSC certificate attesting to its accuracy. The mechanical caliber must achieve an accuracy of no less than -4/+6 seconds of acceptable daily deviation.

Both Rolex and Chopard have watches that come with a COSC certificate and will have the designation of Chronometer proudly displayed on the dial. Rolex, however, will have an extra word attached to this designation; ‘Superlative’ Chronometer. This means that after COSC issued their certificate Rolex did further testing until it reached a much higher rate of precision.

Chopard is a historically rich brand that was manufacturing watches since 1860. In addition to watches, Chopard also manufactures high-end jewelry for the rich and famous. Their brand is very similarly positioned with brands such as Cartier and Harry Winston; both who make watches but are even more famous for their fine jewels. Rolex, on the other hand, is strictly in the watch business and hasn’t indicated that they will be making jewelry any time soon.

According to a recent report by Interbrand, an agency that evaluates Swiss companies and brands and ranks the top 50 Swiss brands, Chopard is the 4th most popular Swiss watch brand in the world with a brand value of 1,098 Million CHF. The only Swiss watch brands that outrank them on this list are, Rolex, Omega, and Patek Philippe; in that exact order. Of course, there are also Swiss chocolatiers and Swiss banks in the mix too but in terms of watchmakers, they are #4.

Rolex has the coveted #1 position in the world in terms of luxury watch brands. They have 100% brand recognition and that is quite an achievement. They have steadily positioned their brand as the watch that can handle just about anything and have manufactured many types of watches; each that serve their own purpose and function.

Rolex has become a household name and everyone rich and poor know their name. While Chopard is up there too, they are not necessarily known as well as a watchmaker as much as they are known for being a high-end exclusive master-jeweller

Chopard has made some advancements in their craft over the last century and a half. While they do have a few in-house movements that are impressive, most of their movements are not made entirely by Chopard. They are either ébauche calibers which are “outsourced” movements usually from ETA which may or may not then be built-up in-house using various modules. They also have many watches which use Quartz movements which are ridiculously more affordable compared to mechanical movements.

Rolex doesn’t use quartz movements. They did try one at one point during the watchmaking industry’s quartz crisis. It was called the Oysterquartz but they quickly scrapped that idea before it hurt their brand. Furthermore, Rolex doesn’t use ébauche movements either and manufacture all their movements in-house. They did use them in the past such as the iconic El-Primero chronograph mvement which once powered the Rolex Daytona but have since changed their manufacturing to do everything in their own factories.

Rolex has also taken watchmaking to a whole new level and they hold many patents for innovations that they have made to watchmaking. It was, in fact, a Rolex engineer who perfected the self-winding rotor system used in the automatic watches that we use today. They have developed a reputation for improving things that other watchmakers thought not possible.

Rolex has also had their watches go to the highest mountain peaks and the lowest depths of the ocean and seabeds just to prove that their watches are up for the challenge. They are durable and rugged, yet stylish and classy. Their ads often say that no human can withstand the testing that their watches go through but they do it anyway. While this sounds like a bunch of marketing mumbo-jumbo; it is not. Rolex owners will attest to this.

In terms of durability, a Fake Rolex watch, (especially a sports model such as the Submariner) is built tougher and are more equipped to handle day-to-day wear than just about any Chopard watch. A Chopard is more of a refined classy watch and therefore not subject to the scrutiny of those that want a watch that can take a beating.

Many watch collectors will use a Rolex as their “beater” watch. They have incorporated their patented Paraflex shock absobers into many of their models and their Oyster cases with their screw down crowns are excellent for submersible situations. Which is a great segway to our next topic; Water Resistance.

While Replica Chopard makes some excellent watches such as the L.U.C. Quattro with its 9-day power reserve shown in the main article image at the top of this blog post, Chopard doesn’t make diving watches. Water resistance is pretty basic on Chopard watches which are typically either classy dress watches or racing watches such as their various chronographs.

It’s also quite important to get a realistic idea of what the water resistance on a watch means regardless of what brand it is and learn how to take proper care of any watch, diving watch or not to ensure longevity and ensure you will keep the warranty intact.

Rolex, on the other hand, has many diving watches suitable for anyone from an amateur diver to a even a seasoned professional such as James Cameron. It was in fact a Rolex that went down with James Cameron to the deepest depths of the earth’s waters known as the Mariana Trench. Rolex commemorated this achievement with the Rolex Deepsea; a diving watch that has 3900m/12800ft of water resistance.

Rolex has the best average resale value in the industry. So if you are looking to build a strong collection and may consider trading in a watch for a better one, Rolex will on average give you back more of your principal than any other brand. Of course, resell value is largely dependant on a number of variables such as the condition of the watch, the model itself, how rare it is, whether or not it includes all original documents and boxes, wether or not it is still under warranty and other things.

It’s important to note that a watch is not an investment and it is rare when a watch winds up being worth more than what you paid for it. While these things do happen, they are rare and should not be considered as an investment such as a proper security. They do have a tangible value which can (albeit rare) at times appreciate, but don’t count on it. You can compare them to a car in the sense that as soon as you use it, some of its original value is lost.

These brands are both considered luxury watches. You can pick an entry-level Chopard model for just above $5,000 at full retail price for a men’s model and just under $5,000 for a ladies model. Rolex has a slightly higher price point for their entry-level models which start at a full retail price of $5,700.

Replica Omega VS Fake Rolex

The two most recognized Swiss watch brands in the world are benchmarked and go head to head in this comparison. Which do you think is the best?

People will often call us asking for advice on choosing between an Omega or a Rolex watch and we are happy to share our extensive experience with both brands. This comparison of Omega and Rolex presents you with information that will help you decide which is the best brand to suit your particular needs.

Warranty

Both brands have pretty impressive warranties. In the luxury watch industry, you will usually see a 2-year warranty on most watches with most brands. However, both Omega and Rolex offer a superior warranty duration than the average luxury watch brand. Omega has a 5-year warranty on all their watches. Rolex also offers a 5-year warranty on all their watches.

Resell Value

Something to consider when you purchase an expensive watch is what you can expect to get back for it later. This is an area where Rolex shines brighter than Omega and every other brand for that matter. When it comes to resale value, Rolex has the industry in the bag. They are, bar-none, the luxury watch brand with the highest resell value in the world.

When it comes to resale Omega isn’t bad per se. The best Omega watch may fetch a higher average resale value than the worst Rolex but the Rolex brand still dominates the pre-owned market and on average, their watches hold value the best. They are also one of the most knocked-off brands as well. I suppose you take the good with the bad, eh? So, when it comes to resale, which is better Rolex or Omega? Rolex is, bar none, the best when it comes to average resale value with no exceptions.

OMEGA VS ROLEX

Common Features

  • Rolex and Omega both have some iconic watches
  • Both brands are highly recognized Swiss luxury watch brands
  • Both Omega and Rolex are rich in watchmaking history
  • Both have an excellent and above industry-average 5-year warranty period
  • Both brands have made numerous horological innovations throughout the years
  • Both brands have watches that were worn by James Bond in various 007 films
  • Rolex and Omega produce some of the most accurate mechanical watches
  • Both brands undergo further testing after receiving a COSC certification
  • Both brands have been fighting electromagnetic interference with numerous innovations

Brand Recognition

According to Interbrand, an agency that measures brand popularity and brand value for the top Swiss brands. Rolex is the single most recognized watch brand in the world. I read that they have 100% international brand recognition.

You can expect to turn heads just about everywhere with your Rolex. Omega is a close second and is the second most recognizable watch brand in the world and their brand recall is closer to 70% which sounds like a huge difference but is an amazing accomplishment for the Omega brand nonetheless. You can expect to turn about 30% fewer heads with your Omega watch.

We know that both brands are very well recognized but in terms of precision, are Omega watches good? What’s to say about Rolex? Are Rolex watches good? Yes. Both are excellent brands that aren’t just about marketing.

How good are Omega watches? How good are Rolex watches? Both brands have gone above-and-beyond what is considered to be good watchmaking to deliver exceptionally precise timepieces by the highest standards and then some.

In case you haven’t already known this, some of the most accurate watches have a designation from a third-party testing lab called COSC which stands for ‘Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres’. They earn the title ‘chronometer’ for their superior accuracy.

Both Rolex and Omega create watches with next-level chronometer designations but which is more accurate Rolex or Omega? I’ve covered the difference in accuracy between Omega’s and Rolex’s most accurate mechanical watches in a previous blog post and will explain exactly how the difference in accuracy works between these two luxury watch brands.

So, when it comes to accuracy, which is better Omega or Rolex? In terms of overall accuracy, Omega wins, since they not only make mechanical watches but also quite a few quartz watches. Quartz watches, as we all know, are more accurate than their mechanical counterparts.

Rolex, on the other hand, doesn’t manufacture quartz watches anymore. They gave it a go a while back but they later re-focused their attention on only manufacturing mechanical watches moving forward.

Both of these watchmakers produce some excellent diver’s watches that offer great water resistance.

You’ll discover that Omega has at the very top of the waterproof food chain the Seamaster ProProf 1200m which has a water resistance of 1,200 meters / 4,000 feet. Other diver watches from this brand include the Seamaster Planet Ocean and Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M, all which have a helium release valve.

However, Rolex seems to have really gone the extra mile, or rather 2.7 kilometers with its Rolex Deepsea series which has water resistance up to 3,900 meters / 12,800 feet. This quite literally blows Omega out of the water.

The most impressive feature of the Rolex Deepsea is the difference in Water Resistance compared to the Omega Seamaster ProProf 1200m. While serious diving calls for a minimum of 1650 feet and up of water resistance, the Rolex Deepsea boasts a over twelve thousand feet of resistance.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the Himalayas for the last 50 years, you probably already heard the term ‘EMF’ which is an acronym for electromagnetic frequency. Every electronic device known to man emits these frequencies and they screw up the timekeeping in mechanical watches. This is a growing pain for watchmakers who strive to keep them as accurate as possible and they are fighting back.

You’ll be happy to know that both Rolex and Omega make antimagnetic watches. Rolex has the Milgauss which is magnetic resistant up to 1000 gauss and Omega has many watches featuring the words Master Co-Axial Chronometer or a Master Chronometer designation. This means that the watch is tested and certified by a lab called METAS for many things including magnetic exposure up to 15,000 gausses making it 15x more efficient than the Rolex Milgauss. They both tackle the #1 enemy of mechanical watches slightly differently using different approaches but which brand does a better job? I wrote a blog post about these differences to answer this question for just you.

At the entry-level Rolex has a higher price than a new Omega watch. In fact, the cheapest Rolex watch is about double the list price of the most affordable Omega. However, you’ll see that Omega has been on the up-and-up over the past few decades but I think they still have quite a way to go before outpacing Rolex.

A more comparable diving watch to the ProProf 1200m that is made by Rolex would be the Sea-Dweller 4000 series which has the same 4,000 ft water-resistance as the Omega counterpart. But I do suggest that just for the sake of your horological entertainment, read the Deepsea VS Sea-Dweller comparison.

Both of these brands compete head-to-head at every level of watchmaking but being the underdog in terms of resell value and overall brand popularity, Omega puts up a very good fight.

Chronographs: Daytona VS Speedmaster

Diver’s Watches: Submariner VS Seamaster

Everyday Watches: Explorer VS Aqua Terra

Anti Magnetic Watches: Milgauss VS Aqua Terra

Both of these brands offer several iconic watches. Omega had the first watch on the moon, affectionately known as the Moon Watch and Rolex has a few of their own. In fact, most recently, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona worn by Paul Newman was auctioned off at over $17,000,000 making history as the most expensive watch ever sold. You can read about a few of the more noteworthy watches from each of these two brands below.

Omega Moonwatch
Rolex Submariner Hulk
Rolex Batman Watch
James Bond’s Watches

Replica Ulysse Nardin VS Rolex watch

Once in a while we are asked questions like: “What’s better, a Ulysse Nardin or a Rolex watch?”. How can you compare two incomparable brands?

In this side-by-side comparison and review of Replica Ulysse Nardin and Replica Rolex we will try to answer the most common contexts in which this question is asked.

Ulysse Nardin VS Rolex
In-Depth Comparison
Let’s begin by listing a few of the many contexts in which “Which is best?” can easily be meant:

For your convenience, we’ll also list the general question categories. Click on any of the links below to jump to the section with questions discussing:

Which is a more valuable and more popular brand Rolex or Ulysse Nardin?
According to a report by Interbrand, Rolex has a brand value estimated at 7,387 million CHF (Swiss Francs) and is the 3rd most popular Swiss brand in the world. Nescafe and Nestle are the only two that surpass them. (Almost everyone consumes coffee and chocolate but not everyone has a Rolex.)

The above report covered the 50 most popular Swiss brands which included watch brands but wasn’t a report exclusively about Swiss watchmakers per se. A report from the year before Interbrand’s report was published covered just the top 20 Swiss watch brands. This Swiss watch brand report was published by BV4, a firm of brand valuation experts.

In this report, Rolex is once again the most popular and valuable brand and Ulysse Nardin is not found in the top 20. Mind you, that doesn’t change the fact that Ulysse Nardin is a master-watchmaker and manufactures incredibly well-made watches. They just fell short in a brand popularity contest of sorts and lots of that has to do with their marketing & advertising.

This is one of those cases where the younger brand (Rolex) has the upper hand. While typically in watchmaking, the most respected watchmakers are usually very old very established brands such as Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet, for example. Ulysse Nardin is over 50 years older than Rolex yet, Rolex has built an incredibly valuable brand as a watchmaker.

Which is more durable Ulysse Nardin or Rolex watches?
Ulysse Nardin has fine watches and they are built well but how would they stand up against Rolex’s patented Paraflex shock absorbers which are found in many of their watches? Or how the bezels stand against Rolex’s proprietary Cerachrom bezel inserts which are highly scratch resistant and impervious the discoloration associated with prolonged UV ray exposure?

Rolex has invested tremendous resources into improving their watches for day to day use and design many watches made for people with active lifestyles.  Many luxury watch collectors who own many fine watches including those from Ulysse Nardin also own a Rolex which they will use as their go-to every day “Beater” watch.

Ulysse Nardin, on the other hand, has beautifully finished movements and they put a lot of work in the craftsmanship and aesthetics of their movements and in terms of appearance, they are often more pleasing to the eye. In most cases,  several different finishing techniques are used on their calibers and the various plates within to allow them to really shine.

Which has better water resistance Rolex or Ulysse Nardin?
Both Ulysse Nardin and Rolex have excellent diver watches equipped with enough water resistance for diving enthusiasts (enthusiasts being the operative word here) The Ulysse Nardin Marine Diver, for example, has a water resistance rating of up to 300m/1000ft which is adequate for impact sports such as board diving, scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming.

What about diving professionals? What about some deep-sea diving? What if I want to touch the ocean bed at its deepest point known to man? Between Rolex and Ulysse Nardin, who has the best water-resistant watch (period)? Rolex has. While Ulysse Nardin does have one watch that is particularly better than their standard diving watches, this is, of course, the Ulysse Nardin Deep Dive 46mm which has 1000m/3300ft of water resistance the Rolex Deepsea and has 3900m/12800ft of water resistance. That’s nearly 4 times the water resistance compared to the most water resistant Ulysse Nardin watch.

Which is more accurate, a Rolex or Ulysse Nardin watch?
Let’s start with a primer on how accuracy is graded in the watch industry. At the moment the highest 3rd party designation for accuracy is the Chronometer designation which is issued by COSC. This designation means that your mechanical movement is precise within -4/+6 seconds per day.

Ulysse Nardin is famous for their Marine Chronometers which throughout history allowed ship captains navigate the great waters of this earth using charts that required very precise maneuvers which needed to be timed to perfection.

So, in terms of a question like “Are all Ulysse Nardin watches COSC certified Chronometers?” Most of their collections of men’s watches are such as the Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer, GMT Perpetual Calendars, even many of the watches in the Maxi Marine Diver collection. There are few exceptions though it’s always good to check that it comes with a COSC certificate if accuracy is a concern for you.

Rolex, on the other hand, has taken their precision testing a step beyond the standard COSC certificate. After receiving their movement back from COSC, they place the now COSC certified Rolex calibers in a case and put them through another series of tests which regulates them to even higher accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day at which point they give their own designation of Superlative Chronometer. All Rolex watches made these days (except for the Cellini collection) have this higher level of accuracy.

Who has more complicated watches, Ulysse Nardin or Rolex?
Ulysse Nardin and Rolex are both very skilled watchmakers. However, when it comes to what the industry calls ‘Haute Horlogerie’ or high horology …simply put: watches with high complications, Rolex falls short.

Ulysse Nardin, on the other hand, has plenty of watches with high complications such as a Tourbillon, Perpetual Calendar watch or even a mechanical Alarm complication. They can be found in the following collections:

What’s more affordable, a Ulysse Nardin watch or a Rolex?
In terms of their most affordable watches and considering the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, the cheapest Rolex is the Oyster Perpetual 39mm which starts at $200 according to the Rolex price list and comes on a stainless-steel bracelet.

The most affordable Ulysse Nardin watch is the Lady Classico at a list price of $200 and for the men, there is the Marine Chronometer Torpilleur both with a list price of $200. Both watches come on a leather strap. A Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer Torpilleur on a steel bracelet would run you about another $200.

What’s more expensive, a Rolex or a Ulysse Nardin watch?
On the higher end of each brand, you’ll find some expensive watches such as diamond-encrusted Ulysse Nardin tourbillon watches for over $1,000,000 and for Rolex fans you’ll find Platinum Rolexes with Diamond Bezels with 6-figure price tags.

Which holds its value more, a Ulysse Nardin or a Rolex?
Typically, a Rolex has a higher average resale value, more than any other brand in the business for that matter. There is more demand for a Rolex since it is a more widely known brand and they produce a very large quantity of watches each year. Their estimated output is estimated at about 2,000 watches per day.

Of course, there are always many variables that get considered with the valuation of a pre-owned watch. The things that are considered include and are not limited to the following:

  • the model itself (think limited edition, rare production flaws etc.)
  • the demand for a specific model (such as Rolex submersibles)
  • if it includes original papers and boxes, warranty cards etc.
  • if it is still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty
  • the condition the watch is in
  • if it was ever serviced and by whom it was serviced
  • the wear and tear on the straps

Many people say they want to “invest” in a luxury watch. It is not recommended to ever look at a fine watch as an investment. Watches are not the kinds of assets that usually appreciate. They do maintain a certain amount of their tangible value but should not be compared to any type of tradition security or investment.

They are like a vehicle in the sense that as soon as you use it, you can already expect it to lose a percentage of its purchase value. Yes, there are watches that have appreciated in value and have sometimes even more than doubled in value. However, these are few and far between and you should never count on this happening.

In our detailed Rolex review, we ask the most frequently asked questions about Rolex to address the concerns that people have when considering to purchase a Rolex or used rolex, replica rolex watch

1. What Movements Do Rolex Watches Use?

Rolex actually uses quite a few different mechanical movements. In case what you mean is: “Does Rolex use battery-powered Quartz movements?” the answer is no. They only produce watches that use mechanical calibers powered by springs. There was a time long ago when Rolex produced the Rolex Oyster Quartz which had a battery but they have almost immediately stopped producing this watch. Nowadays, all Rolex watches are mechanical and use either automatic (self-winding) movements or in some cases, a manual wind movement.

2. Are Rolex Movements In-House Movements?

Yes. However, it is important to note that there was a time when Rolex selectively used 3rd party movements. Rolex has since switched their manufacturing to be completely in-house and manufactures all their own calibers.

Questions About Rolex Accuracy:

11. How Accurate Are Rolex Watches?

The watch experts at Rolex assemble all the various components which go into a Rolex caliber and regulate the movements to ensure the highest precision. Just how accurate is a Rolex watch? Well, every Rolex watch receives the highest 3rd party designation for a watch’s accuracy. This designation is called a Chronometer. This Chronometer designation is awarded to a watch movement after being tested by COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. A COSC certificate is given to Chronometers to prove their accuracy.

However, Rolex isn’t happy with the -4/+6 seconds per day accuracy that a COSC certificate ensures. After the calibers are returned to Rolex from COSC with a COSC certificate, Rolex does further testing, in-house while the caliber is in a watch case and regulates them even further until they achieve an accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day. That’s at least 200% more accurate than a COSC chronometer. Only after the watch is this accurate will Rolex give the watch a second designation called Superlative Chronometer.

12. Are Rolex Watches Reliable?

Yes, they are some of the most reliable watches on the face of the earth.

13. Are Rolex Watches COSC Certified?

Yes, all Rolex movements receive a COSC certificate. They then also go through another round of testing in-house to achieve even better accuracy than a COSC Chronometer. (see question 10 above)

Questions About Rolex Prices:

14. Are Rolex Watches Luxury?

They are luxury watches indeed. Rolex isn’t considered high-horology or ‘Haute-Horlogerie’ as the industry calls it when compared to brands such as Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek Philippe. One of the reasons for this is because they don’t produce any high-complication watches …yet. Watchmakers that produce these super complicated ‘Grande Complications’ watches tend to get this title.

15. Why Are Rolex Watches So Expensive?

Actually, Rolex watches aren’t the most expensive watches in the world. They’re well priced for what you get. Furthermore, they hold their value better than any other watch brand. Yes, they are definitely the most known “expensive” brand.

Consider this: Some of the most expensive Rolexes have a 5 figure price tag which is a lot compared to watches that cost only a few dollars or even a few hundred dollars. However, there are many brands that have watches that have 6 and 7 figure price tags. That said, yes they are a luxury watch brand and they are expensive but compared to other brands they are definitely NOT the most expensive watches.

16. How Much Do Rolex Watches Cost?

The most affordable Rolex watches start at a list price of about $5,700 but you’ll find discounted Rolex prices on our website on just about every Rolex with few exceptions.

The most expensive Rolex watches which are not auction pieces go up to a list price of about $82,500. Most recently a Rolex Day-Date 40mm made out of solid platinum was introduced and has an ice-blue dial like all platinum Rolex watches and comes with a diamond bezel. The price tag that is just north of $100,000. Will Rolex watches appreciate? Read further to find out.

Questions About The Value Of Rolex Watches:

17. Do Rolex Watches Offer Good Value?

That entirely depends on how you measure the value in a watch. If all you need to do is tell accurate time, you can technically do that more effectively with a $10 battery powered watch. Accurate watches are one of the rare exceptions where you don’t necessarily get what you pay for. With mechanical watches, Rolex is arguably the most accurate there is. They truly go above and beyond when it comes to precision.

Yes. On average they hold their value better than any other brand.

19. Which Rolex Watches Hold Their Value the Best?

Generally, the sports models such as the Submariner, Daytona, Deepsea, Explorer, GMT Master II, and Yachtmaster have the best resale value and it is possible that this is because the demand for these models is greater than most of the many other more classic Rolex models.

However, most Rolex watches will on average retain a higher percentage of its original purchase value at the time of sale when compare to watches from other brands.

Are Rolex watches a good investment? Some models will sell for even more than their original purchase value. Though this is not common, it does happen from time to time.

Replica Batman Rolex GMT Master II 116710 BLNR Review

What’s the connection with The Dark Knight and the Black & Blue Rolex Batman watch? Find out now!

Possibly the most expensive and famous of all Batman watches is the Rolex “Batman”. Of course, we’re not talking about any watch that was worn on the wrist of Bruce Wayne. Rather, the Rolex GMT-Master II 116710BLNR with a two-colored black and blue bezel is another one of their watches that got a superhero nickname. Let’s find out how and why this Rolex watch is connected to the Dark Knight.

First, we need to begin with what made the difference between the old Rolex GMT series and the new Rolex GMT-Master 2 series? For starters, Rolex has decided to make more use of their new patented “Cerachrom” hardened ceramic bezel inserts which are highly scratch resistant and won’t fade with exposure to UV rays. In doing so Rolex had to challenge themselves to find a way to combine two colors with ceramic material. Back when bezels were manufactured using metal, this wasn’t such a big deal but doing the same thing with ceramic material takes some serious creative thinking. Good thing that Rolex was never accused of being uncreative when it comes to manufacturing methods. They practically wrote the book on innovation.

The Rolex Batman price literally shot up over the past few years and it’s virtually impossible to find one selling for the MSRP anywhere and it doesn’t look like it will come down in price any time soon either. The BLNR is one of those exceptional watches where if you bought one a couple of years ago and never wore it, you would be sitting on a few thousand dollars more than you originally paid. With the volatility of Rolex prices lately, there’s no saying that it will be dropping in price in the foreseeable future.

The BLNR Rolex 116710 is not the first two-tone bezel Rolex. The Rolex GMT collection has always had watches with two-tone bezels…well before the Rolex GMT Batman was introduced. This is a tradition that has lasted for over 50 years. From their “Pepsi” bezel with red and blue tones (which come to think of it, with those colors it would be more catchy if it was called the “Superman”) to their “Coke” bezel with red and black (Daredevil or Deadpool?) Rolex two-toned bezels always somehow received a nice nickname. We now have yet another color combination for the bi-colored bezel blue and black which is called the “Batman” or “Dark Night”. Some even call it “The Bruiser” because of the black and royal blue hues. Why Batman? Well, black and blue are some of the most common color combinations used in the classic Batman comics and shows and …it sure sounds catchy!

Rolex has used these duotone bezels for over half a century and the Pepsi and Coke dials had a practical purpose. They were an easy way to distinguish between the AM and PM hours. The only catch was that the colors and contrast really stuck out like a sore thumb and those that are more conservative in the way they dress would need another choice of colors that would sit well in business attire. While there are many people that still love the red & black Coke bezels and red & blue Pepsi bezels around the dials, the black & blue is pushing its way up in popularity, most likely because of the versatility of the color combination of this black and blue bezel.

Which special features does the Batman Rolex GMT-Master II 116710BLNR have to offer?
The Rolex GMT-Master II “Dark Night” or “Batman” watch has a dual time zone feature and for the second time zone hand, uses a matching blue color on the GMT arrowhead hand which has a luminous fill. This GMT time zone complication is very convenient for people who travel or that make frequent calls to a country or state with another time zone.

The 40mm Rolex Batman GMT watch uses the patented “Triplock” screw-down crown which locks the case as tight as the hatch of a submarine. This protects the Rolex 3186 caliber automatic movement which is a 31 jewel Superlative Chronometer which has an accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day and beats at 28,800 VPH.

To people who love luxury watches, Rolex is truly a superhero watchmaker and deserves every hero nickname they get such as the Rolex Batman watch. Another superhero watch you should look at is the Submariner “Hulk” which got its nickname and fame due to its unique color.

From the time this article was written, the Rolex model 116710 BLNR discussed here has become more scarce since it’s not being produced anymore. On the plus side, you can have a look at the full specs of the NEW 2019 Rolex GMT Master II “Batman” Jubilee model # 126710BLNR:

Replica Rolex Lady Datejust 28mm 279161 Review

Time to get acquainted with a ladies watch of the highest caliber.

Every so often we need to review an exceptional ladies watch. While there are so many out there, there are few that are as worthy as this Rolex Datejust 28mm. The model featured in this review has the reference number 279161 Chocolate Index Jubilee. Let’s get started, shall we?

Rolex Lady Datejust 28mm 279161 Review
The first impression of this watch is that its design is striking, rich and warm. It has a pretty and small size at only 28mm but the combination of stainless steel and Rolex’s proprietary hue of rose gold called Everose gives this watch wrist presence that would otherwise not be there on stainless steel or even a platinum models.

The Chocolate sunburst dial looks quite delicious and makes use of Everose for the bezel, the luminous hands and index hour markers which all have a nice polished finish.

The Datejust 28mm collection contains hundreds of different models and they vary in design, case material, and bracelet type. On this model, the two-tone jubilee bracelet provides for a distinctly Rolex look with the smaller polished rose gold center links laid out in a staggered formation between the brushed stainless-steel outer links.

The bracelet is fastened with a concealed stainless-steel folding clasp that snaps shut with an Everose Rolex crown logo which stems from the end of the rose gold center links. As you can see from the image below, the inside of the folding clasp has special Rolex engravings and markings.

Another distinctly Rolex feature is the Cyclops date magnifier at the 3 o’clock position. On a small, 28mm watch, when you compare them side by side against the much larger men’s Datejust watches, the magnifier looks larger than the men’s but it’s not too large in any sense of the word.

This watch will grab people’s attention. It’s elegant and sophisticated, yet youthful and stylish. It’s not the kind of watch you would want to wear if your wrist is trying to fly under the radar.

One thing that does fly under the radar on this watch is its movement, the case uses a solid case back so it’s sealed in tight and like all Rolexes can’t bee seen through the case backs like some other brands. However, that just adds to the mystique of the caliber that powers this watch.

Of course, we’re talking about the in-house manufacture caliber 2236. This is an automatic mechanical movement which contains 31 watch jewels and has a beat of 28,800 VpH. It features a patented Syloxi hairspring which is made from a composite produced from the antimagnetic materials silicon and silicon oxide.

The self-winding Rolex 2236 movement has a power reserve of 55 hours and is both a highly accurate COSC certified chronometer and comes with a Superlative Chronometer designation from Rolex attesting to its even better than COSC specs performance and precision.

Overall this is an excellent ladies Rolex watch that looks magnificent and offers excellent performance. To browse the full collection of Replica Rolex Lady Datejust 28mm Stainless Steel and Everose Gold watches click the button below.

Replica Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39mm VS Rolex Datejust 41mm

Let’s get a close look at and compare two very versatile entry-level Rolex watches.

We once wrote a very detailed but to the point comparison of the Replica Rolex Datejust 41mm and the Replica Rolex Datejust II. Both series have excellent timepieces with some distinguishable differences which you can read about in that post at another time. Today, however, we will be reviewing a model from the 41mm Rolex Datejust series and comparing it against the Oyster Perpetual 39mm. Let’s jump right in, shall we?

Comparison: Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39mm VS Rolex Datejust 41mm

Of the ninety-plus models of 41mm Rolex Datejust currently available, the 126300 Black Index Oyster is possibly one of the most popular, and for several reasons. We will compare it against a very similar looking watch called the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39mm 114300 Black Oyster.

To start, these are what most would call excellent entry-level Rolex watches and account for two of the ten most affordably priced Rolex models for men. They both have a black sunray dial which by design make them both conservative models that can be worn either while dressed up or when casually dressed.

In general, entry-level Rolex watches for men are limited. The slightly smaller Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39mm has similar aesthetic features such as the oyster bracelet and dial color and case size weighing in at a smaller yet classic size of 39mm.

The Oyster Perpetual 39mm has slightly different index hour markers which are punctuated with a square-shaped printed 5-minute marker. The Datejust 41mm, on the other hand, uses printed Roman numerals for the 5-minute intervals combined with the same type of luminous applied index hour markers.

While it’s only a few millimeters smaller than the Datejust 41mm model that we are also reviewing here, and while the 39mm Oyster Perpetual has a lower price, there are big differences on the inside of the watch and significant reasons to opt for the 41mm Datejust model over the Oyster Perpetual 39mm, if it’s still within your price range.

Luxury watches have been showing a growing trend in having a larger and more prominent case size. The most recent models from just about every manufacturer at this point have been showing bigger and bolder case sizes. However, that shouldn’t be the main reason why you would choose the 41mm Black Index Oyster Rolex Datejust 126300. Then there is the movement…

One of the main reasons to choose the 41mm Datejust lies beneath the solid steel case back. The beating heart powering the Rolex Datejust 41mm is the Rolex in-house caliber 3235 which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a much longer power reserve of 70 hours on a full wind compared to the 48-hour power reserve found in the caliber 3132 that powers the 39mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual.

At least twice a year you will find another reason (although a practical and simple one) to appreciate choosing the 41mm model and that would be the would be the clasp. The clasp on the Rolex Datejust 41mm 126300 has a special feature called the Easylink 5mm comfort extension link, allowing you to without any tools, make small adjustments to the bracelet size to compensate for the way the wrist expands and contracts when exposed to changes in humidity and temperature.

The Oyster Perpetual 39mm, on the other hand, has a clasp that also allows for micro-adjustments to be made but would require a tool to make these small adjustments to the folding buckle.

Conclusion: Both watches have great features. The 39mm Oyster Perpetual has a price tag that is approximately $2,300 less than the Datejust but comes without the added date window that you will find on the Datejust 41mm and doesn’t feature the Easylink comfort extension link also found on the Datejust. The mechanical movement powering the Rolex Datejust 41mm features a significantly longer power reserve duration of 70-hours compared to the Oyster Perpetual 39mm which has a power reserve of only 48-hours.

Replica Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN Black Review

After the many years of popularity that the Replica Rolex Daytona Chronograph enjoyed a few of the most popular models have been replaced with enhanced versions with only subtle aesthetic differences.

Today, we’ll be reviewing the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN Black which replaced model # 116520 Black which was the go-to stainless steel and black dial Rolex Daytona for many years.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN Black Review

Let’s dissect this watch feature by feature in a detailed review that is easy to read and navigate.

BEZEL

The most noticeable difference between the two models is the addition of the black “Cerachrom” bezel. This new and improved fixed bezel is highly scratch-resistant, excellently resists corrosion and impervious to the color fading effects of UV rays. Compared to the polished stainless-steel bezel of its predecessor, the now black bezel gives the impression that it is a larger dial.

A few things about the bezel design also changed. Namely, the typeface which was used on the engraved tachymeter scale is bolder and more legible and is filled with a platinum PVD fill. Another slight difference on the bezel is the use of triangles instead of dots beneath the numerals on the tachymeter.

The numerals on the tachymeter now also rotate around the bezel and are no longer horizontally displayed the way they were on the previous model. A lot of thought has been put into the redesign of the bezel and it has been well received by Rolex Daytona fans everywhere.

CASE

The 40mm x 12.4mm thick oyster case is constructed of Rolex’s corrosion-resistant superalloy known as 904L steel which is known to hold its polish more than your standard stainless steel. While 904L steel is not necessarily the toughest steel alloy known to man, it does have more luster than others and is the perfect material for a Rolex. Other manufacturers are not equipped to use this more expensive type of steel and often have their cases produced for them. Since Rolex manufactures all its components in-house, they have an advantage.

As the world’s first waterproof case, the oyster case has almost become synonymous with the name Rolex. The patented “oyster” case has been one of Rolex’s notable signatures and has been around since its conception in 1926. A system that tightens and locks the monobloc middle case via a screw-down bezel, a screw-down case back, and a screw-down crown. Using this “Triplock” locking system the Daytona’s case is as secured against water like a submarine hatch with a minimum water-resistance rating of 100m/300ft.

While you will see this “oyster” case used all on practically all non-chronograph Rolex sports models, the Daytona has the addition of the screw-down sleeves protecting the chronograph pushers.

DIAL

The dial has not changed since the last model and why should it? There wasn’t anything that needed improving on the dial design since the Cosmograph Daytona chronograph is possibly the most recognizable chronograph dial out there.

From the applied polished steel hour markers with their luminous fill to the proportions, everything has stayed the same. The easy to read Chromalight display uses a long-lasting luminescent material that glows in the dark with a bright blue hue.  Just like any Rolex Daytona chronograph, the word DAYTONA is printed in red and wraps around the top of the small running seconds located at the 6 o’clock position.

SUB-DIALS

Aesthetically, everything has stayed the same from the previous model when it comes to the silver-rimmed sub-registers on the dial. The bottom center sub-dial at the 6 o’clock position is the small running seconds sub-dial. The sub-registers on the right and left of this sub-dial at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions are used for the chronograph.

CHRONOGRAPH

The chronograph feature gives an extra function to the watch and is essentially a stopwatch allowing drivers to time their laps with up to an eighth of a second accuracy. The mechanical chronograph complication used in the Cosmograph Daytona was designed to have fewer parts than your standard chronograph making it a more dependable stopwatch. As a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch mechanism which has a smoother start/stop and reset action than CAM actuated mechanisms.

The chronograph’s large central seconds hand sweeps across the dial very smoothly in that perpetual motion which a Rolex is famous for. The Sub-dial to the right of the dial at the 3 o’clock position is a 30-minute counter and across the dial at the 9 o’clock position is a 12-hour counter. These three hands are smoothly operated via the chronograph pushers which are the buttons located above and below the winding crown on the right side of the case.

MOVEMENT

Rolex uses their in-house caliber 4130 self-winding movements to power their Daytona watches which features their magnetic-resistant blue ‘Parachrom’ hairspring and stop-seconds for precise time setting.

The 4130 caliber is an automatic movement which will keep itself wound by using your kinetic energy to tighten the mainspring using a rotor. This will keep it wound provided you move your hands enough throughout the day.

If you don’t move all that much throughout the day, the winding crown can be used to tighten the spring manually. On a full wind, the power reserve should allow for the watch to run for approximately 72 hours or 66 hours if you are running the chronograph function.

The Caliber 4130 is also a COSC certified movement which means it has a prestigious Chronometer designation testifying to its reliability and high precision with a maximum of -4/+6 seconds per day in deviation.

Once the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute issues the caliber a COSC certificate, the caliber is essentially awarded a chronometer designation and is then sent back to Rolex for further testing.

Rolex then installs the COSC certified chronometer movement into the watch case and conducts further testing until the caliber receives a new in-house designation called the Superlative Chronometer. This is issued by Rolex once the caliber has achieved an accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day which is at least twice as accurate as a COSC chronometer!

BRACELET

Rolex’s Oyster bracelet is made of three-piece oystersteel links. The two outer links have a brushed finish while the center link has a beautiful polished finish. The links at either end of the bracelet are connected to the polished lugs on the case so that when you look at it, the finishing alternates from polished to brushed and then again to the polished finish for the center link.

CLASP

The oysterlock double-locking folding clasp is fitted with Rolex’s patented Easylink5mm extension link which allows you to make a quick 5mm micro-adjustment to the size of the bracelet. This is a very handy feature that doesn’t require any special tools to adjust. This feature was designed to allow your watch to compensate in size for the natural expansion and contraction of the wrist when there are fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

SUMMARY

The demand for this watch was through the roof from day one. In fact, before Replica Rolex even released the new steel Daytona watches to their distribution network, preorders poured in and all of them were already presold before they even hit stores. There was a backlog of people waiting to get their hands on one (or is it to get one on their hands?). Point being this is not always a very easy watch to find and lately, they will sell for well above the manufacturer’s suggested retail price based on supply and demand alone.

Like all Rolex sport models, this is built tough. It has excellent accuracy and enough water resistance that (provided that it’s not in hot water) you wouldn’t have to worry if it got wet while swimming, snorkeling or showering. The Rolex brand is the most recognized watch brand in the world so you would certainly get lots of compliments and attention with one of these on your wrist.

Rolex also has one of the best warranties in the business. Their 5-year warranty allows you to sleep at night knowing that you’ll have the Daytona for years to come.
